I think it’s time to thank all the members of the community, all the developers at Sun Microsystems (Yes, don’t ask!) and all the software porters for the great work they all did in the last years.

We don’t know about the future of OpenSolaris – and I have to say, I don’t really trust the “announcement” so far. Let’s hope for an^H or^H^Hmiracle.

Was ist ein UN*X SUMMER?

• Das diesjaehrige Sommerfest des UUGRN e.V. fuer seine Mitglieder, fuer Interessierte und fuer Liebhaber der unixoiden Betriebssysteme.
• Workshops, Vortraege, Nightning-Talks aus allen Themenbereichen der IT: Sicherheit, Programmierung, Administration, Datenbanken, Vernetzung und allem was hier nicht genannt wurde.
• Zeitgleich: das Hacker BBQ des NoName e.V.

Call for Papers!

• Fuer die Workshops und Vortraege gibt es bereits einen Wunschzettel bzw. eine Sammlung von Ideen und Angeboten.
• Alle Redner zu allen Themen sind willkommen! Eine Zensur findet nicht statt. Die Vergabe der Zeit-Slots wird kurzfristig durchgefuehrt.
• Wenn Du mitmachen moechtest, trage Dich einfach ins Wiki ein, melde Dich auf der Mailing-Liste oder schaue in unserem IRC-Channel vorbei.

Apple, FreeBSD, Linux, OpenSolaris, Un*x, UUGRN

Momentan kämpfe ich mit verschiedenen Perl-Modulen auf einer OpenSolaris Box (snv_111b, also 2009/05) und um Euch meine Kopfschmerzen zu ersparen, hier mein Spickzettel:

Vorbereitung:
pfexec pkg install ss-dev
export PATH=$PATH:/opt/SunStudioExpress/bin/
pfexec rm /usr/gnu/bin/cc
pfexec ln -s /opt/SunStudioExpress/bin/cc /usr/gnu/bin/cc

Pakete aus CPAN installieren:
perl -MCPAN -e "install <Paket>"

Für’s Protokoll: ich habe keine Ahnung von perl oder CPAN. Alles was hier steht ist potentiell ganz großer Mist. Für Kommentare bin ich jetzt schon dankbar.

Do you have Problems installing Adblock+ on OpenSolaris 2009/05?

The solution is quite simple. You just have to do some SSL-magic.
Quote from the changelog:

Firefox/Thunderbird/SeaMonkey builds from some Linux distributions (not the official builds however) will refuse to install Adblock Plus with the message: “Signing could not be verified”. Solution: update “nss” package to the latest version available for your distribution. If that doesn’t help, view certificates in the encryption/certificates tab of the options, select “StartCom Certification Authority” under “Authorities” and click “Edit”. Make sure “This certificate can identify software makers” is checked and click OK.
